Worked on a painting I had started earlier this year. 

Measures about 120 x 170 cm, so its quite large and being masonite,

its awkward and heavy. Painting large these days, requires all materials to be moved outdoors as we have not the luxury of an indoor space. Therein lies the irony. Devote your life to art, and the financial struggle is real!

Sketchbook entry at  heathmont remnant bushland on this pleasant, warm and sunny autumn afternoon. 

A couple of very chilled kangaroos were nearby which was a bonus.

Hope to get there again soon and do some more sketching. 

Exploring Cape Woolamai a couple of weekends ago. Sat down with a good view to one side of  the pinacles where I felt it was safe, and sketched for 10 minutes.  As it was high tide , I was unwilling to venture down to the rocky beach on tracks that I was unfamiliar with. Maybe next time when I'm feeling more confident. 

Revisited 'Third' - from the First to Fifth - series as I was never happy with the original. 

Applying paint to the heavily surfaced timber is a difficult thing. However I do find the organic material interesting when sitting next to the painted surface.

I feel like I'm emerging from winter hibernation as the days become warmer and brighter. 

Pulling out some past work that has been gathering dust in storage, and displaying it in the house.

last couple of days has seen me painting outdoors as the weather has been kind. 

after a few experiments on ipad pro ,  played around with positive  and negative shapes, rhythm and balance until I was content with an outcome.

colour was decided upon on the canvas. 

measures approx 60 by 1 metre.

Joined in with the School Strike For Climate yesterday. Quite a moving experience, and impressive to see so many switched - on young people taking action.  This young lady was one of the prime motivators.

Reached the last page of my sketchbook . now to find a new one....

The most recent entries were from our time down at the Mornington Peninsula National Park. It's great fun to painting out there in the elements -  to see the effect of being outside in the fresh air, and its influence on my sketches. As I grow older, I feel my style has become freer as I am less concerned about detail and more interested in trying to portray the immediacy of the moment. The above sketches were rendered at the Fingals Beach area and I tried to keep each sketch to under 10 minutes.

Another 'Big Sky with Sailboat'

Just a small canvas about 40 x 35 cm. 

This one a departure in my usual quiet colour palette. 

Green, lime green, cool yellow,  pale blue and dark maroon.....

colours that you can see in a cloud if you look closely, but in reality, are very pale -

 mine are intensified. 

Renovation on an old frame I had made some 20 years back. 

This was constructed of cardboard , twine, split peas, flour and water paste, and then buffed up with rub 'n' buff  in european gold. 

A hollow construction, and a lightweight frame, it houses a collage , which is a departure to my usual style, due to the change in technique and  materials.
